Home: Welcome

Hello! I’m BB (she/her) a NYC based performer and creative.

I grew up in Greensboro, NC where I was promptly signed up for dance classes after I tried to jump off of my mom’s lap onto the stage during my big sister’s first dance recital. I trained at On Stage School of Dance and Penn Griffin School for the Arts until my senior year of high school, when I was accepted into the Joffrey Ballet School’s year-round Jazz and Contemporary Trainee Program in NYC.

Following the year at Joffrey, I studied at Oklahoma City University’s Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment and received my Bachelor’s of Performing Arts in Dance Performance.

I have performed at regional theatres around the country. Recent credits include West Side Story at Pittsburgh CLO and Starlight theatre under the direction of Baayork Lee, and Seussical at Pittsburgh CLO directed by Michael Heitzman and choreographed by Robby Roby.

Off stage, I live my other passion- teaching dance and choreographing. I was so lucky to have so many wonderful teachers growing up who inspired me to pursue my passion, and I hope to do the same for the next generation of artists. I have been a Teaching Artist with Luna Performing Arts in Tribeca for over four years, teaching dancers of all ages. I had the opportunity to teach in India with Broadway for Arts Education where I taught and choreographed for the students at the Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project in Tamil Nadu, India. In addition to teaching, I have been the associate choreographer for NYC based creative, Tuan Malinowski for regional and collegiate musical theatre productions as well as local projects.

Once a teacher said to me “we are not dancers who human, we are humans who dance”. As a human, I love running- I signed up for my first half marathon this spring! I practice yoga, take walks around the city, hang with friends, bake, try new cuisines and try to find hidden gems around the city.

I am so grateful for the opportunities and experiences thus far in my career and for my family, friends and mentors that have helped me along the way. Here’s to making more art, listening to, learning from and uplifting others, taking and giving space and reaching our full potential as artists and humans.

I look forward to making art and telling stories to lift up voices that need to be heard and make our world and industry a safe and equitable space for all.
